Researchers have said that those fit and fat people who accomplish cardiovascular fitness through workouts are more in good health than those lean people. Based on some research, at least half of the overweight adults have normal blood pressure, cholesterol and other measures of the heart’s condition. A significant percentage of overweight people are considered fit and fat because they are found to be metabolically healthy unlike those normal weight ones who suffer from a number of cardio metabolic problems.



Measure Your BMI

Most of the doctors are using the Body Mass Index (BMI) in order to assess whether their patient is just right” (BMI 20 to 24.9), underweight (BMI less than 20), overweight (25 to 29.9), obese (above 30) or extremely obese (BMI 35 or above). Calculate your own BMI with your height and weight. Find out if you’re fit and fat or thin and idle.


How to read the BMI Chart

Look below in the BMI chart for you weight and your height.

Where the two measurements meet is your BMI.
BMI = (weight in kilograms) divided by (height in meters x height in meters)

Lets say you have a weight of 100 kg and a height of 1,85 m
Calc: 100/(1,85 x 1,85) =   100/(3,4225) =   29,22 BMI

If your BMI categorizes you as overweight but you’re actually fit and don’t have too much abdominal fats, then it shows that your body weight is not the main factor to your cardio risk. Even those who are obese still remains fit and fat by improving their metabolic risk profile and staying physically active.


No matter how big you are and what your BMI profiles reflects, keep in mind that physical activity can lessen abdominal obesity and therefore reduces the risk of having cardiac problems.


Stay Active

What kind of activities could you include in your physical activity aside from going to the gym and being athletic? You could simply do walking, cycling, swimming, gardening, washing the car rather than bringing it to carwash, dancing, and doing house chores. You might not be aware that all your everyday chores could be a helpful physical activity and make you fit and fat.


Remember, you have to aim for fitness rather than the slender body if you are aspiring to have better health.
