How to do it

In Wikipedia is a very detailed article about Weight Loss. Here is a short snippet:

Therapeutic Weight Loss Techniques

Weight loss, in the context of medicinehealth or physical fitness, is a reduction of the total body mass, due to a mean loss of fluid, body fat or adipose tissue and/or lean mass, namely bone mineral deposits, muscle, tendon and other connective tissue. Listed here are some of the available therapeutic weight loss techniques:

  • Exercise is the least invasive weight loss technique and the most recommended method by most physicians.
  • An intake of fiber rich foods is also suggested for adjusting bowel movements.
  • Other weight reduction techniques include use of drugs and supplements that lessen appetite, block fat absorption, or reduce stomach volume.
  • Lastly, surgery (i.e. bariatric surgery) is another option for more severe cases to artificially lessen the size of the belly, thus controlling the absorption of food energy.

You might notice right away that you are drinking way too much soda. Drinking excessive amounts of soda is one of the biggest reasons for gaining weight in the U.S. today.  Other foods to look for are sugar and too many breads including cereals and potatoes. The next food group is the fast food and junk food group. Are you guilty of popping a frozen dinner into the microwave, or stopping for a burger on your way home from work?

If you can’t identify just one item then look at your portion sizes, maybe you are eating in a healthy way but are just consuming way too many calories. If this is the case, cutting down is the answer and a very easy solution.

Next you want to look at your exercise routine, are you active at all? Watching too much television is another major cause of weight gain. This causes you to lead a sedentary life style and your body is unable to burn off enough calories each day.  Becoming more active will make a big difference in losing weight. You don’t have to go run a marathon, just park at the back of the parking lot next time you are out shopping. Walk the kids to school, or start walking to the mailbox each day.

Once you understand how you arrived at your current weight it will be easier to implement changes to provide you with a healthy weight loss. One of the first things you can do is to switch your soda and pop for water. This one simple change can have you losing pounds effortlessly.  Water helps in keeping you feeling fuller, and works wonders in flushing out toxins and other impurities from your body.

After you are accustomed to drinking water each day, start changing some of the foods you are eating. Add a piece of fresh fruit to your breakfast and make sure you eat at least one vegetable serving at dinner time.  When it comes to eating snacks, switch up that muffin or doughnut for a low fat yogurt of handful of grapes.

The best way to encourage healthy weight loss is by using natural, fresh foods along with a moderate amount of exercise. Before you know it, you will be feeling healthy and full of life again.
